Jasminum Officinale is native to India and the Middle East, and cultivated worldwide. It is a climbing plant commonly known as Jasmine growing up to 6 meters tall. Its leaves are pinnate and dark green, the fragrant white flowers bloom during the summer.

Jasmine is widely cultivated for their delicate scented flowers. Jasmine has traditionally been used in the perfume industry, to flavour drinks (particularly tea) and in Asian cuisine.

Quality Jasmine oil is captured from the delicate flowers by solvent extraction as one of the constituents responsible for the fragrance is dissolvable in water and unsuitable for steam distillation.
