Turgite is unclassified by the International Mineralogical Union. Turgite is a mixture of Hematite and Goethite. Hematite is an iron oxide mineral which occurs in most metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. Hematite often occurs intermixed with Quartz. Crystalline rose forms of Hematite make fine specimens for collections. Goethite is a hydrated iron oxide mineral and forms in hydrothermal deposits and is a common constituent of soil. Hematite is also known as Haematite. Hematite included with Mica, known as Specular Hematite, display a wonderful sparkling star effect. Hematite is paramagnetic.
