Topaz is a aluminium silicate fluoride hydroxide mineral found in pegmatites, high temperature quartz veins and cavities in Granites and Rhyolites. Topaz crystals can grow very large, is colourless in its purest form, trace impurities create pale yellow or pink Topaz. Topaz are used as a gemstone, used in the jewellery trade. Topaz is colour enhanced, usually through heating, to create the vast array of Topaz colours. Irradiated Topaz changes from light blue to electric blue. Natural Topaz crystals make interesting and collectable specimens. |
