Tiger Eye is Chalcedony which has pseudomorphed after Magnesioriebeckite (China) or Crocodilite (Africa). Chalcedony is cryptocrystalline Quartz. Chalcedony has many varieties including Agate, Bloodstone, Carnelian, Chrysoprase, Flint, Jasper, Onyx, Sardonyx and Tiger’s Eye; to name a few. Tiger Eye is rich in Crocodilite inclusions. Tiger Eye displays stunning chatoyancy and is used in the ornamental and jewellery trades. The colour of Tiger Eye is gold/yellow, red, blue and a rare banded green. Blue Tiger Eye is also known as Hawk Eye or Falcon Eye, when exhibiting the ‘eye’ marking. |
