Pyrite

Pyrite is a common iron sulphide mineral, found in many different geological formations worldwide. Pyrite has many names including Iron Pyrite and Fools Gold, due to being mistaken for Gold. Pyrite has the same chemistry as Marcasite, but a different crystal structure.

Pyrite forms cubes, flattened dollars or suns, octahedrons and pyritohedrons (the pentagram faced dodecahedron). Pyrite also psuedomorphs after other minerals, including fossils creating perfect Pyrite copies of ammonites etc.
