Moldavite

Moldavite is a variety of Tektite, composed primarily of silicon dioxide. Tektites do not have a defined crystal structure and are loosely termed mineraloids.

Meteorite Impact Theory suggests that Tektites (which are found at Meteor impact splash sites) are formed from the high temperature and pressure of a Meteor impact.

Moldavite is a translucent green Tektite found in the Bohemia and Moravia splash fields in the Czech Republic, and have been dated around 14 million years old. Gem quality Moldavite is used in the jewellery trade and commands high prices.
