Jet

Jet is a variety of Lignite, which is a variety of Coal, and considered to be a mineraloid. Jet is formed from decomposed organic matter (mostly conifer) under high pressure millions of years ago. Jet is considered a gem material and is often carved.

Jet is used in the jewellery trade, and imitation Jet is hard to distinguish from natural Jet, but natural Jet is warm to the touch.
