Nephrite Jade

Nephrite is a variety of Actinolite, a calcium magnesium iron silicate hydroxide mineral. Nephrite and Jadeite have gem varieties of Jade. Nephrite is used as an ornamental precious gemstone. Nephrite is most often darker shades of green than Jadeite Jade.

Nephrite Jade is widely used in the jewellery and ornamental carving trades, though it commands lower prices than Jadeite. Actinolite crystals make interesting collectors pieces.
