Blue John Fluorite is a calcium fluoride mineral that is found in Derbyshire, UK. Fluorite is colourless and impurities of hydrocarbons produce the wide variety of colours including multicoloured and banded. Some varieties of Fluorite fluoresce. Fluorite is generally named after is colouration. Fluorite typically forms cubes.

Blue John Fluorite specimens are now rare collectors pieces displaying a rich purple, white and yellow and blue banded colours.
