Crocoite is a lead chromate mineral and is typically found as a secondary mineral in lead deposits and chromium bearing rocks. Crocoite is famous for its distinctive orange to red coloured thin crystals.

Crocoite is sought after by collectors and aggregates of small thin crystals growing in different directions make fine specimens.
