Chrysocolla is a hydrated copper silicate mineral found in the oxidation zone of copper deposits, often encrusting or replacing secondary minerals. Chrysocolla is a fragile mineral, however it often forms with and colours Chalcedony, which gives it durability for cutting and polishing. This variety of Chalcedony Chrysocolla is known as Gem Silica, or Druzy Chrysocolla if Quartz crystals are present. |
