Cymophane

Cymophane is a beryllium aluminium oxide, which also forms Alexandrite and Chrysoberyl. Cymophane is transparent yellow to green in colour.

Cymophane is a rare gemstone and demands a high price.

Cymophane included with Rutile displays chatoyancy, giving it the name Cat’s Eye. Cymophane is regarded as the only crystal to be called simply Cats Eye, although many crystals (and synthetic or simulated crystals) have a ‘cats eye’ chatoyancy.
