Buddstone

Buddstone is unclassified by the International Mineralogical Union. Buddstone is associated with Verdite and Serpentine in the green stone belt of eastern South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The Serpentine group is by far the most common occurring. While Verdite is confined to two main areas, one in eastern Zimbabwe and one in South Africa, the commercial grade Buddstone appears to be unique to the Barberton area. Buddstone may be a form of silicified Verdite.

Serpentine has many names like New Jade. Buddstone has been given the name African Jade, suggesting an association with Serpentine, in the Pyroxene group.
