Bronzite is a variety of Enstatite, a member of the orthopyroxene group of minerals, belonging with Hypersthene to the orthorhombic series of the group. Bronzite is a ferriferous variety of Enstatite, which when weathered has acquired a bronze-like sub-metallic lustre on the cleavage surfaces. Bronzite often contains inclusions of reflective minerals such as Hematite and Goethite, which give it a bronze-like effect when polished and some polished specimens exhibit asterism and pleochroism. |
