Bloodstone

 

Bloodstone is a variety of opaque Chalcedony, which is cryptocrystalline Quartz. Bloodstone is green Chalcedony with red inclusions. The red is caused by iron oxide inclusions.

Bloodstone is also known as Heliotrope or Blood Jasper and is typically dark green with small blood red spots.

Bloodstone is mostly sold tumble polished and carved.
