Aquamarine

Aquamarine is a beryllium aluminium silicate mineral of the Beryl family. The colour of Aquamarine is due to trace amounts of iron impurities in the Beryl structure. The colour ranges from pale green to pale blue to blue. The more intense the colour of an Aquamarine, the more value is put on it.

Aquamarine is a durable semi-precious gemstone and Green Beryl can be heat-treated to form deep blue Aquamarine. Aquamarine is rarely found displaying chatoyancy.
